British Railways Locomotive Allocations 1948-1968

An important reference work for Railway Historians and Railway Modellers alike, these books list every Steam, Diesel, Gas Turbine and Electric Locomotive owned by British Railways from Nationalisation until the End of Steam.

In addition, Shed Allocations are shown side by side for the years 1948, 1952, 1955, 1959, 1963 and 1966, with final withdrawal dates (month and year),for over 21,000 Steam Locomotives and a large number of pioneer and Pilot Scheme Diesels & Electrics as well.

The books have been laid out in an easy to read format; tabulated information on any class of locomotive, or indeed any individual locomotive, can be found easily and quickly without complicated cross referencing or copious footnotes.

There are almost 300,000 entries in the first six books of the series!

Parts 1 to 7 have been published. Other Parts will be published as shown below.

As Reviewed in Ian Allan's 'Railways Illustrated' Magazine, June 2007.
